Penelope is the organizer of a cruise event for The Magnificent Seven— a collection of seven eccentric author friends. The event is luxurious, planned with workshops and three hundred fanatic readers.
Penelope is good friends with the Seven– from her own boss who writes mystery stories to the handsome western author who she’s best friends with, but nothing more, because she’s just had a bad break-up.
Anyway, she’s determined for this cruise to be fun.
Until her boss is discovered murdered.

Well, that was a ride.
Probably my favorite book by this author, this one was a whirlwind of humor, mystery, and a colorful cast of writers. I was completely engrossed in this story– I just couldn’t put it down. Honestly, it’s a new favorite, and I really liked the way things ended up playing out. I definitely did not see certain parts coming.
One of the parts of this story that really stuck out to me was how we had so many authors, and each of them represented a different genre. I honestly feel like we covered the spectrum of fiction, and I really enjoyed seeing each of the quirky personalities. It was very entertaining.
Penelope was a great POV character. I definitely enjoyed seeing her perspective on things, and how she handled a bookish murder. Also, there were a few hysterical lines as she considered what a book character would do, or if she was the next character who would die in a story. Really, it felt like such a reader situation.
All in all, this book was just so original, and such an entertaining read. I would definitely recommend this one as a bookish cruise escape. There was a clean romance that I really liked, and so many interesting characters. The author really tried something new here, and I really like how it turned out overall.
There was some violence with the murder– stabbings were discussed a fair bit. The romance was very clean, although the main guy did sleep in the main girl’s room, but only to protect her, and he was on a cot on the floor. Really, it was a nice clean romcom whodunnit. I would recommend it to any romcom readers who are feeling like an escape or a mystery.
This book is on Kindle Unlimited, so you should definitely check it out. This would make an ideal summer weekend read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!
