⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5/5 stars)

Y’all.

Pepper Basham is my favorite Christian fiction author. I love her Skymar series especially. I mean, those books… I literally don’t have words to describe my emotions. They are perfection itself.

So, when I heard she was writing a regency rom-com… yes, please. Sign me up. I am here. I am ready to read!!!

And, honestly, this book did not disappoint. I spent most of my time reading it squealing in delight and grinning so hard over all the humor and the wonderful characters and banter. I was hoping for a regency story that delivered all the aesthetics and the splendid humor of a contemporary romcom, and this one just fit that bill perfectly. A huge shout-out to Pepper Basham, who has proved she can write just about any genre and come up with a story that will put a smile on my face.

The characters were so fantastic, and honestly, our main couple were both hilarious in their own rights. While I don’t think any of Pepper Basham’s heroines could ever rival Izzy, Emme was very fun, and I liked her snarky side and how that came out. I may have questioned her decision-making abilities a couple of times, but never her fantastic sense of humor.

Simon was also a lot of fun, although I definitely dealt with some frustration over his decisions, as well. Honestly, I think he should have taken a couple of steps back before realizing that maybe all of these ideas weren’t the best. Especially a couple– ahem, his aunt’s bargain, ahem. However, he was also under a lot of pressure and trying to make things work out, so I will try to be a little lenient.

Romance was smile-inducing as I had hoped, and definitely made me happy. Not quite so happy as a certain side character I desperately hope we get another book about in the future. As well as getting to see the kids in future books– please and thank you.

(Oh, and by the way…. “Blast-It-All”? Cutest. Thing. Ever.)

Content-wise, I felt this one was very appropriate. There were some kisses, feelings of longing, etc., but nothing too strong for my taste. I just enjoyed getting to see all their sweet moments together, as I think pretty much any adult readers could enjoy.

So, in summary, this was fantastic. Such a fun read. A couple of frustrating moments throughout, but still a favorite, and one of the best regency romcoms I’ve read. I mean… this was so fantastic. (Also, as of the time of publishing this review, this book is available on Kindle Unlimited!!!)

I’m Keira Anne (with an E)

Welcome to my little corner of this great big world wide web– which feels a little scary to type out. Since I’m here, that means I am not reading, which is actually pretty crazy. Now that we’ve acknowledged that anomaly, however, I will go back to reading. Feel free to join me as we discover a world of books!
