Cassie and Jett weren’t counting on finding love through a dating app, but after a promising date, the sparks are definitely flying.

Until the kids show up.

Cassie ends up becoming the temporary caregiver of three kids in foster care.

Jett’s sister drops off her three kids before disappearing, leaving him with his own challenging situation.

The only reasonable decision? Keep the kids a secret so the person they’re dating doesn’t get the wrong idea.

What could go wrong?

⭐⭐⭐⭐(4/5 stars)

If you’ve been following me for very long, you most likely know what a huge advocate I am for adoption. Therefore, this book was obviously one I NEEDED to read (isn’t it amazing how many books we find that we NEED to read?), and I’m very glad I did. It was a cute romance with some tough topics (more about that toward the end of this review), and overall definitely one I’d consider re-reading.

Our main couple were fine together, although really, it was the kid characters who stole my heart. While I got frustrated with some of the decisions our main characters made, I felt for these kids so much. I wanted them to be happy, and I was overall fairly satisfied with how this story wrapped up.

The romance was sweet and clean. I wish our main couple would have gotten to know the other person’s kids a little better, but I get why that didn’t work for the story very well. Overall, though, I was okay with them as a couple, although I would have liked a book #2 to see where they go from here.

I think the author’s heart for foster/adoption really came through the story, and that was just very special. I loved how much she seemed to really care about this topic, and I felt like it really improved the story so much. I want to read more romance books with foster/adoption content. It’s so important, and I think that we should normalize this in fiction.

I do think maybe there should have been a trigger warning/content warning at the beginning of this book, because we deal a lot with child abuse, the foster system, emotional trauma, car accidents, abandonment, substance abuse, etc., so I think there was a lot of potential for triggering scenes/parts. I would recommend it for adults who like clean contemporary romance– especially those who are interested in the foster system.

This book is (currently) available on Kindle Unlimited, so I was very happy to be able to read it through there, and I’m definitely interested in picking up a copy of my own at some point. Honestly, this book was very sweet, and the foster/adoption representation really tugged at my heartstrings in a good way. If this sounds like it would be a good fit for you, I would definitely recommend giving it a try! It might be my new favorite by this author!

Welcome to my little corner of this great big world wide web– which feels a little scary to type out. Since I’m here, that means I am not reading, which is actually pretty crazy. Now that we’ve acknowledged that anomaly, however, I will go back to reading. Feel free to join me as we discover a world of books!
