Hello, dear friends!

Today, I am so excited to share all about the books I plan on reading this month. I always try to make a TBR (that’s to-be-read, by the way) for each month, because I love reading new books as they release, and I’m always taking part in reading challenges, so I hope you enjoy this post and I will see how many of them I get through this month. (It won’t be all of them, I’m willing to guess.)

Also, I wanted you to know that for all the books I could, I added in a little excerpt that’s the first sentence of each story. Because, that’s one of my favorite ways to pick which books to read, and maybe it will help you decide if it’s one you’re interested in reading yourself. (I got this idea while watching Chantel Reads All Day Youtube channel, and I really enjoyed it.)

You ready? I am! Let’s go!

UPCOMING AND NEW RELEASES:

Firstly, I want to talk about the books that I want to read this month that were recently released. Three of them haven’t come out yet, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to find a way to read them so I can review them and share my thoughts with you. The rest of these books have been recently released, and I think I’ll be able to read all of those. Anyway, yeah, let’s just get into the books, because I’m excited to share them with you!

To Love a Beast by Karen Witemeyer (Once Upon a Time in Texas #1) (June 10th)

I mean, okay, I haven’t always loved all of Karen Witemeyer’s books, but… it’s a Beauty and the Beast retelling with a library full of books on the cover! I hope this one goes on Kindle Unlimited so I can read it as soon as it releases, because I would love to be able to count this as a new favorite retelling.

After recently realizing I’m not a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast books, I’ve been on the hunt to find some that I really love, and I hope to add this one to that list!

The Codebreaker’s Daughter by Amy Lynn Green (June 17th)

“As the bell above the drugstore door gave its apologetic half jingle, Dinah Kendall turned casually on her stool to see who else had ventured out on such a blustery winter afternoon.”

I mean, it’s an Amy Lynn Green. I have to read it. She is a must-read author for me, and I’m absolutely thrilled that this book is finally releasing. I have been waiting so long!!!

I think it has something to do with a mother and daughter, and centers around codebreaking during WW2. Yes, please.

The Atlas of Untold Stories by Sara Brunsvold (June 17th)

“Strange how an empty room could be haunted by sound, especially a sound as whispery and distant as the shiff of sand between the bowls of an hourglass.”

Judging by the cover (I know, I know, we aren’t supposed to), this book is about a road trip… and books. Which is all I’m looking for in a book like this.

Plus, it’s by the author of The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip, so I can’t not read this story. I don’t know that much about it, but I also just don’t really want to.

Legacy of Glass by Melanie Cellier (Kingdoms of Legacy #2)

“Olivia dipped her head toward the colorful, fragrant pile in her arms and breathed deeply.”

This recent release is definitely going on my TBR, and if you saw my recent review for the first book in the series, this probably comes as no surprise.

I believe this is available on Kindle Unlimited, and I look forward to reading it! I mean, it’s a Cinderella retelling!

Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham

“I’d love to say I became famous because of my excellent writing skills.”

I mean, it’s a Pepper Basham book. After reading her Skymar series (my favorite of which is Authentically, Izzy), she could probably write an instruction manual, and I would probably rush to read it. (You get the idea.)

I’m very excited to give this one a try, and I’ve been eagerly waiting until the perfect time to read it. I think that just might be June.

First Love, Second Draft by Becca Kinzer

“Gracie loved Mona with every beat of her heart, but the occasional moment arose when she wanted nothing more than to smack her beloved sister in the face with a Bavarian cream pie.”

It’s a rom-com about baseball and writing. So, why not give it a try? And, with baseball season in full swing, what better time to read it than now?

I’m really hoping to enjoy this one! Although, I think I’ve said that every book so far… hmm…

READING CHALLENGES:

For Chantel’s Read Your Bookshelf challenge prompt for this month (which is ‘bird’)… apparently, I don’t have any books with birds on the cover… or in the title, or remotely involved at all. Finally, I found one that could work, but we’ll see if I actually read it. I hope so.

Also, for my own personal reading challenge, I wanted to read a book with a secret or fake identity, so I looked for one that could combine both prompts, and I’ll see if I can get to it!

Plotting Summer by Jess Heileman (Falling for Summer)

“I’m not entirely convinced there’s no sweeter sound in this world than the rapid clacking of keys on a keyboard.”

It’s a rom-com, and she’s secretly an author. Plus, there are a couple of seagulls on the cover if you look close enough. Actually, I don’t really like this cover that much, but, I think since it’s free on Kindle Unlimited, I will give it a try.

If you have any other books that would fulfill these prompts, I’d love to hear your suggestions, in case I don’t get to this one.

BOOKS I WOULD LIKE TO READ:

These are books that don’t necessarily have a ‘reason’ for me to read them… but I want to anyway. A lot of them are going to be on my summer TBR (coming soon!), but some of them are just random books that I’ve been meaning to get to for a while.

An Ever After Summer by Toni Shiloh

“Bonjour.”

Okay, that first sentence got me. Bravo, Toni Shiloh. That’s excellent, especially since it opens on our main character doing a French lesson. That’s great. I love it. Bravo.

This is a rom-com retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and I’m putting it on my summer TBR (coming soon!) I love this cover, and I’ve been saving this book for so long, so this may be my most anticipated book this month (but there are so many, so it’s really hard!).

The Women of Wynton’s by Donna Mumma

“Oh, how this sign set the bees a-buzzing in the wives’ and mothers’ bonnets in Levy City– that and her shiny new 1955 Thunderbird convertible parked beneath it.”

Just for the record, the cover says ‘classy 1950s mystery’, and that just makes me entirely on board. The cover is gorgeous, and I am a total fan already.

I don’t really want to know too much about this book going into it, but I’m very excited to try and read through this story in June.

A Noble Inheritance by Kasey Stockton (Castles and Courtship)

“The only thing more tiresome than arguing with a small child would be trying to convince my nearly grown sister to do anything she did not wish to do.”

A regency story? Yes, please. I am excited to read this one, and I’m really hoping it feels like a Jane Austen book, or something along those lines.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book by this author before, so I’m excited to give it a try! I hope it’s a new favorite!!!

Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton

“It came, literally, out of the blue.”

I am so excited to read this biography. Bethany Hamilton is, in my opinion, an amazing person, and I am so excited to learn more about her story.

Also, I think I’m going to make a list of a lot of Christian autobiographies that I haven’t yet, because I want to read through them.

This feels like the perfect summer read, so I’m excited to give it a try.

Re-Reads

I love to re-read old favorites, and this month, I have a few good ones I’m hoping to get to!

Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis Majors with Beth Clark

“Sometimes it hits me like a brick to the head: My life is kind of insane.”

This is my all-time favorite non-fiction book, and I am very excited to re-read this story. Katie Davis Majors’ story is inspiring and completely amazing in my opinion. I am just so excited to read this book, and maybe then, I will be able to write an actual coherent review for it.

We’ll see, though. Honestly, I doubt I can say anything very coherent about this book. I just love it so much!!!

Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables #2)

“A tall, slim girl, ‘half-past sixteen’, with serious gray eyes and hair which her friends called auburn, had sat down on the broad red sandstone doorstep of a Prince Edward Island farmhouse one ripe afternoon in August, firmly resolved to construe so many lines of Virgil.”

I really want to read through this whole series, and this is the next one, so I’m determined to read it.

Positively, Penelope by Pepper Basham (Skymar #2)

“I’ve always lived by the adage that ‘a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down’.”

After finishing Authentically, Izzy, I will move on to the sequel, because I’m reading it with my sister. This whole series is precious and lovely, and I can’t wait to re-read Penelope’s story.

Okay, so maybe I’ve already read it twice, but… whatever. A third read is just as good.

What Are You Reading in June?

I know there were a lot of books, but I think they all look like a really fun time, and I’m very excited to see how many I get to. I will be doing a recap at the end of the month so you can see all the books I ended up reading.

Thank you so much for reading this post. I hope that you enjoyed it, and I would love to hear if you’ve read any of these books, or what you plan on reading this month.

Have a wonderful day, sweet friends!

I’m Keira Anne (with an E)

Welcome to my little corner of this great big world wide web– which feels a little scary to type out. Since I’m here, that means I am not reading, which is actually pretty crazy. Now that we’ve acknowledged that anomaly, however, I will go back to reading. Feel free to join me as we discover a world of books!
