Hello, lovely friends!

Today, I thought I would share some of the books I’ve read that have something to do with movies, the film industry, or anything like that. I hope you enjoy this list, and that you find a new favorite for you or the movie fanatic in your life! Now, lights… camera… action!!!

'Stars Collide' by Janice Thompson (Backstage Pass #1)

‘Starring Me’ by Janice Hanna Thompson

Two stars who play people in love in front of a camera find themselves falling in love when the camera is off.

This book is not strictly about movies. As a matter of fact, the main characters in this are actors on a TV sitcom, but her grandmother used to be a star in Hollywood, so I count it.

I haven’t read this book in a long time, but I remember enjoying it. I believe its available through Kindle Unlimited, so if you have that subscription, you might want to give this comedy a try.

‘Positively, Penelope’ by Pepper Basham (Skymar #2)

When Penelope goes to a small island to take an internship with a theater, she finds herself needing her bubbly personality to win over her coworkers… especially a certain grumpy single father.

While this book takes place in a theater– and therefore isn’t about movies– the characters in it are both very much in love with movies, and are constantly referencing them.

This one was funny and humorous, and makes me grin so hard every time I think about it. I would definitely recommend it.

'The Elusive Truth of Lily Temple' by Joanna Davidson Politano

‘The Elusive Truth of Lily Temple’ by Joanna Davidson Politano

A silent film star has secrets she doesn’t want anyone discovering… but an investigator is searching for a missing diamond, and finds all the clues pointing to her.

I thought this book was fascinating. I loved all the historical tidbits from this story, especially when they talked about actually making movies in the early 1900s. I hadn’t found many books about the early years of cinema, so this one was definitely exciting, and is probably my favorite by this author. I will probably be making time to re-read it soon.

‘We Could Be Villains’ by Megan McCullough (Vigil and Ante Files #1)

Rosemary is a fangirl who loves superhero movies… until she realizes that the movies are real… and the supervillain needs her help.

This one is definitely a little more niche, I’ll admit. It’s more for people who love superhero movies than just movies in general, although the main girl is also a big fan of theater.

It’s been a while since I read this one, but I did enjoy it a lot, and I’ve been meaning to continue on with the series. I believe both of the books in this duology are available on Kindle Unlimited.

'We Could Be Villains' by Megan McCullough (Vigil and Ante Files #1)
'The Love Script' by Toni Shiloh (Love in the Spotlight #1)

‘The Love Script’ by Toni Shiloh (Love in the Spotlight #1)

A Hollywood hair stylist ends up in a fake relationship with a top actor to save both of their reputations, the line between fake and real begins to fade.

This one was actually fairly fun. It wasn’t a new favorite, but it did have a lot of enjoyable moments. It was a classic-feeling romcom full of fake relationships and celebrity-dating tropes that I really enjoyed.

This was truly a Hollywood book (I mean, look at that cover!), and so, if you’re interested in movies, this might be right up your alley.

‘Love Me Tender’ by Janice Hanna Thompson

A young man trying to break into the movies with his singing voice. A young woman trying to save her family’s diner. A benefit that just might bring them together.

This was probably the first Christian fiction book I ever read, and so, it has a very near and dear place in my heart. It takes place in the 1950s, and is full of movie references.

Really, this is a great summer read, and if you’re a fan of movies from this time, it might be perfect for you. It’s a very sweet and clean story.

'Isabelle and the Beast' by Marie Soleil (Once Upon a Romcom #2)

‘Isabelle and the Beast’ by Marie Soleil (Once Upon a Romcom #2)

Beauty and the Beast retelling… only a modern rom-com with a reclusive movie star who might just end up falling for his potential co-star.

This one is the sequel to Cinderluna, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Instead of Belle (or Isabelle) being a bookworm, she was a movie nerd, and she loved watching classic musicals. Therefore, instead of the ‘Beast’ showing her his library, he shows her his theater.

I think film fanatics will appreciate the love for movies displayed in this story.

Starring Me by Krista McGee

Kara is invited to partake in a month-long audition to be on a brand new TV show. While she expects it to be a great career move, she doesn’t expect it to be a chance at finding love and faith.

This one isn’t about movies. I’m sorry. Once again, this one is about a TV show, but because of the way the story unfolds, I feel like you might enjoy it if you like movies.

I would recommend reading First Date by Krista McGee before this one, because that’s another excellent book, and takes place during a reality TV show.

'The Foxhole Victory Tour' by Amy Lynn Green

‘The Foxhole Victory Tour’ by Amy Lynn Green

When a group of misfit performers join a USO variety show, they embark on an adventure that will change them and bring them together.

This is really another honorable mention. It isn’t about movies. It isn’t even about TV. But, it is about performers on a USO tour, and I found it to be immensely interesting.

If you like WW2 fiction, found family tropes, and classic movies, I think you’d like this one. There may be a Bob Hope cameo, which cemented this book’s place on my list.

Well, those were the ones I could think of off the top of my head. I was really surprised by how many I could come up– although I’m not quite sure why so many of them have blue covers. 🤔 Anyway, I feel like this is actually a list of really good books, and I had a lot of fun pulling them together, so I really hope that you had fun looking through them.

I’d love to hear if you’ve read any of these books, and if so, did you enjoy them? Are you a film fanatic yourself? Are there any books you’ve enjoyed that have to do with films? I’d love to hear your recommendations and chat about them. 🎥🎬🎞️🍿

Have a wonderful day, dear friends.

Welcome to my little corner of this great big world wide web– which feels a little scary to type out. Since I’m here, that means I am not reading, which is actually pretty crazy. Now that we’ve acknowledged that anomaly, however, I will go back to reading. Feel free to join me as we discover a world of books!
